Compositing with Z-depth pass in Absolute Hitfilm…

seems to be impossible. Weird. It is one of the mostly used features to save rendertime.

I checked some of the cheaper video editing products (like PowerDirector, the entire Magix product line, Sony Video Studio Platinum, etc.) and most of them are capable to edit in multicam setup, supports 4K resolution and 3D movies, but they cannot handle PSD files at all (EDITED: Sony Video Studio could read PSD with transparent background, but without managing layers).
Even Absolute HitFilm cannot do that (and they try to challenge Adobe After Effects, good luck then), although working with PSD format (and supporting its layers) is one of the most basic functions a video editor should deliver (PS simple cannot be replaced in average workflows without big compromises).

Of course I can afford that these apps are ‘prosumer’ products (except of HitFilm), but who the f..k edits family videos in 4K or in 3D?

I will never understand the most of the companies. It would be so easy to win a competition with some thinking.
